How Yada imports historical contacts, separates previous guests from gift certificate purchasers, and prepares safe warm-up audiences.

What Yada Can Import

Yada supports CSV-style contact imports with first name, last name, full name, email, phone, guest review rating, Yada rating, and optional stay details such as check-in, check-out, listing name, status, total paid, confirmation code, booking channel, and booking date.

Imported contacts are deduplicated by normalized email and phone. If a row includes stay data, Yada can also create or update stays and attach those stays to the contact.

How to Separate Previous Guests from Gift Certificate Purchasers

  • Import previous guests with their historical stay rows whenever possible.

  • Import gift certificate purchasers as a separate file or list when they do not have a stay history.

  • Use the upload-created list as the initial segment, then create follow-up segments based on whether the contact has stays, source, ratings, opt-in status, and campaign engagement.

If a gift certificate purchaser later books a stay, their contact can merge into the guest record through email or phone matching, keeping the marketing history and stay history tied to the same contact.

Warm-Up Recommendation

Do not abandon gift certificate purchasers by default. Treat them as a separate audience with different consent and relationship context.

For contacts who only purchased gift certificates, run a careful re-introduction or opt-in oriented message before placing them into repeat-guest campaigns. Previous guests with clear stay history can usually be handled as a warmer past-guest audience, subject to email/SMS consent rules.

Operational Checklist

  • Clean email and phone fields before import.

  • Include confirmation codes and stay dates for previous guests when available.

  • Create separate upload lists for previous guests and gift certificate purchasers.

  • Review invalid rows and unresolved listing names before committing the import.

  • Confirm marketing consent before sending promotional SMS or email.
